The mission of the BEST Lab at VCU is to develop a better understanding of musculoskeletal biology and engineering and to develop innovative approaches to treating musculoskeletal dysfunction resulting from disease, injury or aging. The BEST lab focuses on the mechanobiology of musculoskeletal disease, novel biomaterials for skeletal regenerative medicine, musculoskeletal adaptation to space flight and the role of gap junctional intercellular communication in bone metabolism.
The BEST lab at VCU is directed by Henry J. Donahue. Ph.D. and includes VCU Biomedical Engineering faculty, technical staff, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students, undergraduate students and high school students all of whom are dedicate to advancing the field of Bone Engineering, Science and Technology.
